Army Life: Reenlisting Indef

AWC > Military Life > Army Life:  Reenlisting Indef

Wow.  It's that time.  The time my husband says I will stay with you for 20 or more to the U.S. Army.  He's already been in over 14 years. To think he's been with the Army longer than me, his wife.

It feels like he has climbed the slide, and he's almost to the top.  This is a slide you can only do once.  So it's exciting and sad all at one time.  I'm so proud of the dedication my husband has shown to his children, family, fellow Soldiers, and country.

I wanted to share his last reenlistment with all of you.

Commissary Closes & Sam's Club Opens It's Doors to Military

AWC > Discounts & Savings > Commissary Closes & Sam's Club Opens It's Doors to Military

When one door closes, another one opens.

I know we are late to the party. I saw the stories swirling around the internet last night about Sam's Club and how they're letting military members & their dependents have access to their stores while the Commissaries are closed.

39,0000+ Soldiers & their families live on Fort Bragg. Today, as one of them, I decided to venture out to Sam's Club! This experience is based on the Sam's Club near Fort Bragg.

Let's Stop Sleepy Driving. Give Soldiers A Safe Ride Home.

AWC > Military Life > Let's Stop Sleepy Driving.  Give Soldiers A Safe Ride Home

If you have a Soldier in your life, you've probably heard them talk about their safety briefings.  They are warned against all sorts of reckless behaviors.  There's something unsafe that's been going on for decades on Military Installations across the U.S.  It's a reckless behavior that's been tolerated and it's as bad as drinking and driving.  What is it?  It's 24 hour duty and driving.

Blended Families - Making the Miles Just Another Number - Part 1

LOVE THIS POST?

AWC > Blended Families > Making the Miles Just Another Number - Part 1

My stepchildren live in Utah.  They live 2177 miles from their father.  If we were to drive straight through, it would take over 33 hours.  This is not an ideal situation for any blended family.  It is, unfortunately, a prevalent one in the Military community.  This blog post is about turning the time & distance into just another number.

Happy Birthday To Me...It's Almost the End of My 30s

Today I, Jennifer, turn 39 years old. It's the last year of my 30's. It's been a decade filled with ups and downs.
  • I bought my first brand new car
  • I lost my father
  • I bought a house
  • I found the love of my life and married him
  • I got to become a 'Jommy' to 2 beautiful kiddos
  • I moved to North Carolina
  • My husband deployed
  • Now we are on a journey to make a baby Stewie.  ;)
The only words of wisdom I have is live your life.  If you make mistakes along the way, it's ok.  Sometimes we need to make the mistake before we have the success.  If there's anything the loss of my father taught me,it was that life is precious.  Never take a moment for granted.  Nothing is more important than family.

Thanks to all that have been there through some or all.  Your love and support is appreciated.  >HUGS<

Below is a the voicemail my stepdaughter Mackenzie left me.  She is so sweet.

Note:  You will need to download the file and play it on your computer to hear.  You may have to turn it up.  ;)

Treat Us 'Normal' During Deployment

I hesitated at the thought of writing this blog.  I don't want anyone to take it as their donation of time, items, and support are not wanted.  They are all extremely appreciated and needed.  With that said, as an Army Wife of 5 years, I've become desensitized to what our family life is like when viewed by civilians.

When my husband deployed in 2009, I dreaded going back home.  Hearing, "You are so Brave." or, "I could never do what you do?" or better yet, "Why isn't your husband calling more?", made me CRINGE.  I decided that during deployment I would stay in Fayetteville, NC.  Why?  I felt normal here.  I was one of  thousands of wives going through the same thing.  They NEVER said the stuff above.  They treated me NORMAL.

Jenn Intro: Army Wife, 2nd Wife,Stepmom, TTC, Blogger

Army Wife, 2nd Wife,Stepmom, TTC Wife, Blogger. Those are just a few of the things I might talk about.

Army Wife
I became an Army Wife February 2, 2008 at the age of 34. I was a single yuppie. I worked at Verizon Wireless 10 years. I had already bought my own home, car, and thought I would be single forever. I had no urge to settle down. I thought I would always adopt or foster a child one day. My course in life changed when I met my husband. I met him online. I thought he would be a booty call and nothing serious. Maybe that's how we fell in love. We were both so open. No lies and nothing to lose.
