Introducing Mickey

AWC > Introduction  > Mickey > Introducing Mickey

Hello everyone! I am super excited I was asked to contribute to the Army Wives Club on my Trying to Conceive journey!!

Before I delve into my TTC history, let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Mickey.  I am originally from Fort Worth, Texas. I am a Music Educator and Army Wife.  My husband and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for 12 years in May 2013.  My DH is 31 and I will be 32 in a few months.

We have been through a few PCS’ both accompanied and unaccompanied: Ft Sill, OK(accompanied), Ft. Bliss (unaccompanied), Ft. Carson (unaccompanied), Hunter Army Airfield (accompanied), and Ft. Lee (accompanied). DH is stationed at Ft. Lee, VA.  I am an avid music nerd and am currently in the process of getting my teaching certification transferred over to Virginia from Georgia.  In the meantime, I am substitute teaching in a nearby county to try to get some networking in and to get out of the house.

TTC - It's Time for a Break

Our last double IUI attempt was unsuccessful. We also discovered during this attempt that my husband's sperm counts have dropped after his injury in August, where my husband separated his pelvis on a jump.

Click here to read more about his injury.

Prior to his injury his numbers were at 33.5 mil.  Now they are 1.5 mil.  This is down from 3 mil at our last IUI.  We've decided to freeze a sample and proceed to IVF next year.  There are two reasons for waiting until next year.  One is to save money for IVF.  The other is to take a break.

TTC - IUI & the Two Week Wait

AWC > TTC > IUI & the Two Week Wait

IUI
December 3rd was IUI day.  After 10 days of hormone shots, we headed off to Carolina IVF Labs.  Phil provided the the soldiers and they picked the best of the bunch and put them in a vial.  I'll let you in on a little secret that only those that have been through IUI know.  There's a special way you transport the 'soldiers'.  It's right between your breasts.  I had a pic, but I wimped out on posting it.  I drove from Carolina IVF Labs to Womack carrying our potential future children.

TTC - Follicle Checks & IUI Update

AWC > TTC > Follicle Checks & IUI Update

Monday & Wednesday I had Follicle Checks & Bloodwork.  Here's the winner.  20mm on the left side!  Way to go Ovary! IUI is scheduled for Friday.

TTC - Let the Injectables Begin!

AWC > TTC > Let the Injectables Begin!

Started  Injections of Follitropin on Tuesday, November 20th.   I finally met Natalie.  She is one of Dr. Parker's Nurses.  Her and Dori are fabulous.  Great to finally put a face with the voice.

I've done 4 days of shots.  So far only thing I've noticed is I go from feeling hot to cold quite frequently.  I have taken to turning my heated seats on in the car with the air conditioning running.

TTC - RE Docs Secretly Vampires??? Blood Draw & Results

In August I went to get a million vials of blood drawn for my infertility testing.  I started wondering if my RE Doc was a Vampire.  Ok a million is exaggerating.  It was only 10.

Our Army Experience with Vasectomy Reversal Program at Womack

AWC > TTC > Our Army Experience with Vasectomy Reversal Program at Womack

My husband got a Vasectomy in 2003 during his previous marriage.  After a few years of marriage we decided we wanted children.  Here's how the Vasectomy Reversal program works from our own wonderful experience.
