Military Spouse Businesses - Three Princesses Boutique

I mentioned months back on Facebook about wanting to feature Military Spouse Businesses.  So here we go!

First up is 'Three Princesses Boutique' which is owned by Army Wife Kristen.  I need to disclose that I've know the owner for years.  She is one of the first Army Wives I met when I came to Ft. Bragg.  I'm definately a little bias when it comes to her awesomeness.  I think you'll join me in that thought when you see just how talented she is.  Her work speaks for itself.  Below are some of her creations.  Kristen answered some questions to help us get to know her better.  Those response can be found below the photos.

We are also doing a GIVEAWAY!  Three Princesses Boutique is giving you the opportunity to win 3 Boutique Bows

Let's get to know Kristen:

Q: What got you started in crafting?

A:  When Sean first deployed I was sitting on my couch doing nothing. Out of nowhere I got this intense urge to just "make something with my hands." I'm not sure where the urge came from or what it was about, but the next day I found myself in Hobby Lobby buying paint, brushes, and plaques. I made a really cute sign for my daughters door and she loved it! After that, I was always in the middle of some project or another.
In August of last year, I was school shopping for my kindergartner and I was disappointed by the lack of hairbows in the colors I wanted. So I decided to start making my own. Everyone seemed to like them, so I opened a Facebook page and started selling to local moms. After awhile I decided that I wanted to learn how to sew. I discovered a tutu style that I fell in love with. I made my own version of that style and got wonderful feedback. It seems that I struck gold because my customers love the style just as much as I do.

Now, I want to invest in an embroidery machine. Seems I just keep going higher and higher on the craft ladder!

Q:  We know Army Life brings many challenges.  What's your guilty pleasure pick me up when you are having one of those days?

A:  I have a couple for different challenges. When Sean was deployed it helped to watch YouTube videos of soldiers dancing, singing, and acting goofy overseas. I know it's not a party over there and I know how hard it is for them, but it helps to know that they can have fun and laugh and try to make the best of their situation. The videos made it a little more bearable when I hadn't heard from him and I was worried.

I also stalked the webpage where his unit would post pictures. It did not happen often but when I saw him in one, my heart would soar and I felt really close to him.

When Sean has overnight duty or goes to the field, I like to have another wife over to catch up on my DVR or sit in my craft room (aka the "mommy playroom") and pass the time getting projects done for my kids. I seem to get more done when he is gone!

Q:  What's your favorite Army Post? and why?

A:  Well, we have only been stationed at Ft. Bragg and Ft. Benning.
I like them both for different reasons. But I will name the pros for both. :)

Ft. Bragg
  • Seemed easier to make friends
  • craft stores were close to post.
  • 2 commisaries
  • the dance program at Tolson Youth center was wonderful,
  • car insurance rates were lower
  • I thought the bugs were bad at Ft. Bragg, but they have NOTHING in Benning bugs. *shivers*

Ft. Benning

  • The housing is new and beautiful,
  • the schools are better,
  • shopping is way better (but further away),
  • the wait for the emergecy room is waaaaay less than Ft. Bragg.
  • The movie theatre on post is very nice and used often.
  • My husband loves his job here, so that ofcourse makes my life easier.

If I could choose any new base to live, I think I would like to try Ft. Carson or Ft. Campbell.

Thanks Kristen for the giveaway and for taking the time to share your talent and time with us.  If you are a military spouse and would like your business featured with us, email ArmyWivesClubPage@gmail.com .
